Long Weekend is BACK!
What your plan this weekend when there is continuously three days off? My colleagues and I have decided to drive all the way to Cameron Highlands for a breeze. As we know Malaysia is tropical climate where we couldn't get much of cold air except Genting Highlands, Bukit Tinggi and the following is Cameron. Therefore, we have chosen Cameron for a short trip that family friendly vacations.
Cameron Highlands is Malaysia's most extensive hill station. Currently there are two way to go either the old winding road or new highway up to the hill. It takes about 4 hours from Kuala Lumpur to reached the destination. My advise are better to take the new highway by exiting Simpang Pulai Junction to Cameron where the highway road are wider. Although it much more further than the old road but it will more safety ride for every girls who intend to take visit as well.
Our first destination was the well known Lavender Farm. This location become an iconic visitation who arrive to Cameron. Unfortunately, the lavender are just part of it from the entrance while the remaining are different type of flowers available. Please be informed there are an entrance fee of RM 8 per person. You may walk around with the view of Cameron from the top and self-pick strawberry activity if you are interested. One of the most special is that you can try the Lavender Ice Cream here. If you are flower lover, you may still grab the rose and lavender products in the souvenirs shop when you are about to exit the farm.

Is about lunch time after visited Lavender Farm, we then drop by the Tanah Rata town for a simple meal. Each of us just grab a plate of fried rice or fried noodle at RM 6.50 each. It is price reasonable which both serve Halal and Non-Halal customers.
We then move our destination to Bharat Tea Plantations which serve Cameron Tea which turn out 2 pot at RM 21. The places are full of flies which affected our appetite but mostly due to crowded weekend and we decided to quickly left right after the tea finish. On the other hand, the Cameron Tea are still fine where we prefer the Breakfast Tea flavour while is still hot. Tea are better to drink in hot where the aroma still remain.

Furthermore, Rose Center is a flower garden at Kea Farm. It located off the main road about 3.5km away from Brinchang town. Visitors can reach this attraction by following the road that leads through Kea Farm Market until Rose Center appears at right side if the road. It took us to walk about 10 minutes even though the signboard stated 500m away from the market. Walking up the steps, we will pass through
verdant gardens perched on slopes along the small hill. Near the top,
another pathway leads to a peak with views of the surrounding
landscapes and vegetable farms. The Rose Center also retails baby plants,
cactus and gardening materials at a small shop near the ticket counter.
Tickets are priced RM 6 for adults and RM 3 for children. It's open
daily from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

A tip for the traveller, be aware to choose your dinner although steamboat is the best in the Cameron Highlands. Many restaurant in Brinchang offer expensive price compare to Tanah Rata. Once you drive along the way and see the iconic Starbucks coffee shop, there you were found several steamboat restaurants around Magnum 4D shop lot. Despite that, we have chosen the below steamboat which around the corner of where we stay.
Jin Jin Steamboat cost RM 20 per person with two base soup either Herbal, Tom Yum or Plain Soup. We pick up the Tom Yum and Herbal soup base served with freshly Cameron vegetables, various steamboat ingredients (prawn, chicken, fish balls, mushroom, mussels) and noodles. Dinner are scrumptious for us although below are 3 person portion but definitely full.

Last but not least, Tea Plantation is a must-visit place when you are in Cameron Highlands. You will drive by taking the entrance infront from Eu Feng Gu Bee Farm and the challenges comes. The road journey to the BOH Tea Plantation is quite an adventure because the road is narrow and winding. Do give a honk on the corner road to let oncoming traffic know there is a car coming. Put this aside, the view of green rolling hills with a total of 8000 acres planted with tea is truly breathtaking and refreshing.
Might be due to the weekend visitation, the BOH Tea Plantation are packed and everyone on queue for foods and BOH Tea. We will here for breakfast and intentionally was to order a classic Western Breakfast with greenery scenic view but unfortunately become a traditional Malaysian breakfast of nasi lemak and fried meehoon. Of course, the dining shouldn't lack of BOH Tea and scones to enjoy the enchanting ambience in a blue clear sky.
