Hong Kong (Yau Ma Tei) - Four Season Claypot Rice & Mido Cafe
If you are here, the Yau Ma Tei station, then you will need to try this two local foods.
The famous foods in is the Claypot Rice unlike the ones sold in Malaysia. The claypot rice in Hong Kong are much well-cooked perfectly with every grain separated in white. You can have your own choice of meats (chicken, beef and various waxed meats like Chinese sausages, pork liver sausages, duck) that matches your own preference of the claypot rice. The claypot rice was eaten in white rather than adding soy sauce and dark soy sauce in Malaysia. But, they remain few bottles of sauces (soy sauce and oil) to mixed if you want. Best advice to be taste the original of the claypot rice without adding any sauces, although it might be seem to be tasteless in your opinion. While, each claypot rice costs from HKD 30 and above depending what type of meats you are ordering.
Next, the second popular dishes after claypot rice was the oyster pancake that similar to Taiwan local food. Nevertheless, this oyster pancake is using duck eggs which give a different taste buds. The shop was air-conditioning and always a queue during dining hour. In overall, this was one of my favourite meal when I visited Hong Kong for supper or dinner.
